Lot presentation

Echezeaux Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes G.Roblot-Marchand et Fils Vieilles Vignes G.Roblot-Marchand et Fils 2022

The wine

Échézeaux is one of the historic Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, situated immediately south of Clos de Vougeot and east of Vosne-Romanée. Its clay-limestone soils shape both the concentration and finesse of the wines. The estate places great emphasis on meticulous vineyard work to allow the parcel and its terroir to speak clearly. In the winery, the fruit undergoes a long maceration with gentle cap-punching and pump overs. Fermentation occurs naturally with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in French barriques for around sixteen months.
The ruby-red hue introduces an intense nose. The expressive, complex bouquet reveals red and black fruit, sweet spice and subtle notes of wood. On the palate, a supple attack gives way to firm yet fine-grained tannins, a poised balance of power and elegance and a superb finish that is both beautifully long and spicy.

About the Producer G.Roblot-Marchand & Fils

Domaine Roblot-Marchand is located in Chambolle-Musigny, in the former heartland of the Abbey of Cîteaux, and spans the finest appellations of the Côte de Nuits. Established in 1910, the domain now owns nearly eight hectares of vines, which flourish on the sun-drenched slopes of this rich vineyard. Frédéric Roblot took over the family vineyard in 2001, closing down the wine merchant business initiated by his parents and deciding to bottle his own wine. In the cellar as well as in the vineyards, the winemaker adheres to the purest and most symbolic of Burgundy traditions, combining his methods with careful, meticulous soil cultivation. Once the grapes have been harvested entirely by hand, they are vinified with very little intervention. Domaine Roblot-Marchand is unquestionably one of the jewels in the crown of Burgundy’s winegrowing landscape.
