Luberon Domaine de la Citadelle "Gouverneur Saint Auban" 2003
The wine
Produced organically, this Côtes-du-luberon is a blend of Rhône grape varieties vinified in thermo-regulated vats with regular punch-down and pump-over. These make it possible to extract a maximum of colour and substance. When drinking, we discover a beautiful ruby hue with an expressive bouquet, rich in aromas of red fruit and peppery notes. The tannins are silky and carry the aromas towards a slightly woody finish.
About the Producer Domaine de la Citadelle
Domaine de la Citadelle started out life as a farm at the foot of the village of Ménerbes. At the beginning of the 1990s, Yves Rousset-Rouard created this winemaking venture. From 1995, his son joined him in the vineyard and took on a titanic job, choosing only the best parcels. It is therefore not surprising that this estate is now regarded as one of the finest names of its appellation. In 2022, one of the Aroma-Zone co-founders, Valérie Vausselin, and her husband, Yannick Panagiotis, bought the winery to continue their natural philosophy in the vineyard.
Today, the vines span 40 hectares on limestone and clay rich soil. Fertilisers and pesticides are forbidden, and yields are low to allow the grapes that blossom express their full potential. The estate received organic certification in 2016.
In the winery, vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and the grapes are pressed gently. Finesse and freshness are the hallmark of this estate that is in constant progress.
