Lot presentation

Drambuie Of. Prince Charles Edward's Liqueur Exportation Only 1L

The wine

Drambuie is a liqueur made from a recipe based on whisky, spices and heather honey. The liqueur’’s name is said to be taken from the Gaelic ‘dram buidheach’’, meaning ‘the drink that satisfies’’.

About the Producer Drambuie

Drambuie is a liqueur from the Isle of Skye whose recipe is said to have been gifted by Prince Charles Edward Stuart to Captain John MacKinnon of Clan MacKinnon in 1746 as thanks for offering the prince refuge on Skye after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden. The recipe was then passed down to John Ross in the late 19th century. After his death, his son James improved it and registered the brand in 1893. When he in turn died, it was bought from his widow by another MacKinnon family, who continued production until Drambuie was bought by William Grant & Sons in 2014.
