Information
Alix and Etienne de Montille took over the family domaine located in Volnay which their father Hubert made famous. In addition to the family domain, the two brothers and sisters started a trading business: Deux Montille Soeur et Frère. The grapes are very carefully selected, and the winemaking and the élevage are given the same care as the domain. A great recommendation.
The village of Pommard nestles in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in the Côte d’Or department, between the legendary villages of Volnay and Beaune. The temperate, continental climate is ideal for the healthy development of the vines, which sit at an altitude of between 250 and 330 metres. The pebbly soil, mostly consisting of clay and limestone, provides the vines with all the nutrients they require to thrive. The vineyard prides itself on harvesting grapes grown according to sustainable viticulture practices, with controlled yields guaranteeing top-quality raw materials. In the winery, the Pinot Noir grapes are meticulously sorted and vinified according to traditional methods, with minimum inputs.
The deep ruby-red colour is complemented by an intense bouquet characterised by aromas of wild blueberry, Morello cherry and blackberry. On the palate, flavours of concentrated red fruit combine beautifully with notes of pepper and round tannins, leading to a deliciously long finish.
