Information
This is an unmissable domain that has been making a name for itself in recent years. Far from prestigious sites of the Loire, Romain Paire has made it his mission to lift the Côte Roannaise to the heights of the region. His father developed the domain in the 1970s. When he arrived in 2005, he decided to renovate the winery and convert the 10 hectares of vines to organic and biodynamic viticulture. His wines are sought-after for their structure and balance.
Pinot Gris, an iconic grape variety derived from Pinot Noir, originated in Burgundy, present in Alsace since the 17th century, also flourishes beautifully in the heart of the Loire Valley winegrowing landscape. The Pinot Gris vines, perched on a granite terroir, are cultivated with precision and care, following organic and biodynamic methods. The grapes are exclusively hand-picked and carefully sorted before being pressed immediately. The juices are then lightly settled before being carefully fermented at low temperature. The cuvée is then aged in 500 litre barrels and foudres (large capacity tuns) for 11 months before being bottled.
The clear shiny colour reveals a fresh and fruity bouquet. On the palate, aromas of dry fruit combine with indulgent gingerbread flavours, culminating in a vibrant, persistent finish.
