    Information
    About the producer

The domain was founded in the 1920s, when Gaston Ravaut began making and releasing his own cuvées, a stone’s throw from Beaune at the junction of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Subsequently, the reins were passed on to Pierre Ravaut, who instilled a style that is still the vineyard’s signature today. In 1970, his son Gaston took over the family business, which he continually expanded until it reached over 12 hectares of vines. Nowadays, Vincent, together with his wife Céline and son Jules, cultivates the vines and produces wine following the methods learned from his father and grandfather. The domain boasts a wealth of plots with very different characteristics. Each of these distinctive features imparts inimitable aromas to the grapes and the wine that are unique to the soil where the vines have flourished.

    About the wine

Situated on the Montagne de Corton, between the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny, the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru appellation represents one of the finest expressions of Burgundy white wines. This cuvée originates from a parcel facing south-west, at an altitude of between 280 and 320 metres. The soils, a mix of white marl and oolitic limestone, provide an ideal setting for the noble expression of Chardonnay. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by meticulous sorting in the vineyard and winery. The grapes then undergo gentle pressing in a pneumatic press. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak casks, 25% of which are new, using native yeasts. The wine is then aged on the lees for 12 months before bottling.
The wine displays a brilliant pale yellow hue. The intense, elegant nose opens with lemon zest, ripe apple and fresh hazelnut, followed by notes of grilled almond, flint, toasted bread and fresh butter. The palate is structured, displaying linear acidity and a saline edge with a lively attack lifted by a lively, persistent minerality.
