Information
About the producer

The young Henri Giraud champagne house is unusual in that it vinifies its wines in Argonne oak barrels, a Champagne forest. The vineyard, located in Aÿ, has well-located plots, in grand cru for the Pinots Noirs. The wines are vinous, slightly woody, quite original and very interesting.

About the wine

This wine is made from Chardonnay sourced from the Croix Courcelles parcel set in Aÿ, one of the rare 17 villages to be classified as Grand Cru in the Champagne region. The vines grow on well-drained slopes, rooted in the chalk and marl soils typical of the area, which impart minerality, tension and a distinct saline energy. In the winery, the grapes are vinified according to traditional Champagne methods. The wine is then aged in oak casks for several months.
In the glass, the pale gold hue shows silvery highlights. The expressive nose reveals generous aromas of white fruit, such as peach and pear, alongside ripe citrus, white flowers and almond. On the palate, a creamy, generous attack reveals fine acidity, perfectly balanced by the hallmark minerality of the Aÿ terroir, leading into a long, textured finish.
