Lot presentation

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Bonneau du Martray (Domaine) 2000

The wine

These wines are produced from a west facing vineyard that enjoys many hours of sunshine, and are both lively and powerful. The subtle citrus and peach aromas with delicate floral notes evolve beautifully into honeysuckle, hazelnut, and cinnamon. The wines have wonderful persistence on the palate and show all the signs of very long aging potential. They certainly deserve to represent the elite of the Corton Charlemagne appellation.

About the Producer Bonneau du Martray

This prestigious domain has belonged for nearly two centuries to the heirs of René Bonneau du Martray, himself descendant of the founder. Jean-Charles Le Bault de la Morinière will have marked the history of Bonneau du Martray with his will to be the most faithful witness of the land of Corton. In January 2017, he announced the sale of the domain to Stanley Kroenke, owner of the Californian estate Screaming Eagle. Ideally located on the hill of Corton, the winery produces two Grand Crus: red (Corton) and white (Corton-Charlemagne). The latter is the flagship wine of the estate Bonneau du Martray, causing his world fame with the great reviews as lovers of fine wines. Old vines, aged 40 on average, rigorously selected grapes, and controlled yields ... attention at all times, from the vineyard to the cellar. The wine is vinified gently to let the grapes express their legendary finesse and aromatic qualities, and is traditionally aged in oak barrels. An iconic Burgundy wine.
