More info

The Médolia cuvée comes from the Muscadet region. It is a made from forty-year-old Melon de Bourgogne vines (local varietal par excellence) grown on two, fine terroirs. The soil here is characterised by mica-schist and green rock. The yields are limited to 30 hectolitres per hectare and the domain’s farming methods are certified organic and biodynamic. This means that synthetic products and herbicides are banned, the soil is ploughed, and the grapes are harvested in whole bunches.
Once in the winery, the fruit is both vinified and matured in ovoid, terracotta containers to preserve the vivacity of the varietal. Wild yeasts instigate the fermentation to let the terroir express itself. The wine is then matured on lees for a year.
In the glass we find a pale golden wine with a fresh, floral, and mineral. Its palate is sharp and mineral, meaning this cuvée can be enjoyed soon with salty dishes or green vegetables.

About the Producer Bonnet-Huteau

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau in La Chapelle-Heulin, in the very heart of Muscadet’s winemaking region and the Sèvre et Maine appellation, has been producing Muscadet for over 150 years. Today it is run by the Bonnet brothers, Jean-Jacques and Rémi. This 40 hectare vineyard has been certified organic since 2005 and there is separate winemaking for four parcels in order to highlight the nuances and subtlety of their respective terroirs. Producing white wines only, the domaine is mainly planted with Melon de Bourgogne. These wines are characterised by their great aromatic intensity.
