Cornas Granit 60 Vieilles Vignes Vincent Paris

    Cuvée presentation

Granite 60 owes its name to the granite soils and steep slope (60°) of the parcels from which it derives. Its sixty-year-old Syrah vines are carefully cultivated in a sustainable manner, harvested by hand and destemmed. The grapes are cold macerated (12°C) for a week and fermented without the addition of yeast. Vincent Paris punches down the cap and pump the wine over it twice a day during fermentation. The wine is then matured for 3 months in tanks and then for a year in used oak barrels, always keeping in mind that the aromas of this unique terroir should be retained.
This Cornas combines power and finesse with notes of black berries, pear syrup, spices and violets. Its full-bodied, round, refined palate has an elegant finish. Its length is remarkable, as is its keeping potential. A wine that would pair wonderfully with a lamb tagine or black truffle steak.

    Information about domain Vincent Paris

The talented Rhône winemaker Vincent Paris cultivates vines at the southern edge of the village of Cornas. He began making wine in 1997 when his grandfather left him his first hectare. Ten years later, he bought an excellent plot, La Geynale, from Robert Michel. Today, he cultivates more than nine hectares, including six in the Cornas appellation, two in the Saint-Joseph appellation, and one that lies in the vin de pays category. Vincent takes as sustainable and natural approach as possible (without insecticide or chemical fertiliser) and the steep terraces where his vines grow are the inspiration for the names of his cuvées Granit 30 and Granit 60. He produces wines with a wonderful purity and delicious fruit flavours. Some of Vincent’s bottles can be opened when young as well as after some time ageing and his Cornas wines receive frequent praise from the critics. This still fairly unknown domain is one to discover sooner rather than later.
