    Cuvée presentation

The Syrah that this Crozes-Hermitage called Les Meysonniers is made from comes from vines that are about 25 years old, grown on perfectly south-facing hillsides. The roots draw the necessary nutrients from deep within the clay, gravel and pebble soils. The domaine is keen to harvest the grapes, which are cultivated in accordance with organic principles (without chemical products or herbicides), when they are perfectly ripe, before a traditional vinification. This is carried out in concrete vats in order to preserve the fruity and somewhat floral character of the Syrah. The wine is then matured for one year in concrete vats, with the same aim of preserving the freshness and minerality of the wine. However, 15% of the wine is matured in wooden barrels in order to gain in texture and aromatic complexity.
Tasting reveals a ruby-red colour marked by bright purplish gleams. This unleashes a blend of aromas with distinctive notes of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry, blueberry, blackberry), violet, pepper and musk. Rich, sumptuous and full-bodied, the wine has a lingering finish on the palate with notes of cooked, sugared, alcohol-infused fruit and flavours of vanilla. We recommend pairing it with lavish dishes such as a black pudding parmentier with little candied onions.

    Information about domain Chapoutier

Maison Chapoutier is without doubt one of the most prestigious names in the Rhône producing some of the finest Hermitage. The domain converted its 350 hectares of vines to biodynamic viticulture, making it the largest vineyard to adopt this method of cultivation. It has held certification since 1999. The Chapoutier savoir faire has spread to other vineyards in other winemaking regions: Provence, Beaujolais, Roussillon, Champagne, Alsace, Portugal but also Australia. In 1879, Polydor Chapoutier bought a few hectares of vines and started a negociant business. Seven generations have succeeded him, and Michel Chapoutier is currently at the helm. Since 1996, all the labels have been transcribed in braille. Chapoutier is often one of the last to harvest to ensure that grapes reach optimal maturity.
