    The wine

The Musigny vines are all planted in the "Grand-Musigny" parcel. With the exception of a small vineyard, replanted in 1997 (these have been downgraded to Chambolle villages), the vines here were all planted between 1947 and 1962. This produces an exceptionally intense wine that requires at least ten years of ageing.

    Information about domain Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier

Founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier, this beautiful Chambolle-Musigny domain at the beginning of the 20th century consisted of about 20 hectares of vineyard in Chambolle and Nuits-Saint-Georges. At the time the wines were sold under the Château de Chambolle-Musigny label, until AOC certification was created. The domain was family run until 1949. Between 1950 and 1978, the founder's great grandson, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, decided to rent all of the vineyards to an important local wine merchant. He then took over the direct management of the Chambolle vineyards. It was his son Frédéric (the domain's manager since 1985), who got back the remaining part of the domain which was rented, Clos de La Maréchale at Nuits-Saints-Georges, in 2004. The Mugnier domain suddenly went from 4 to 14 hectares! The work at the Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier domain, both in the vines and in the cellar, is carried out with scrupulous care. His pure and delicate wines are seen, by many connoisseurs, as perfect examples of a great Pinot Noir. The Musigny Grand Cru and the Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Amoureuses are two most sought-after emblematic wines from the domain.
