We find Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini at a dreamy address in the village of Gevrey Chambertin.
Florence, from Burgundy, is the grand daughter of a Polish family who arrived in France in 1930 and who, over the years, acquired four hectares of vines. Simon is from the Champagne region and a domain held by three generations of wine makers in Villedommange. After having worked for 10 years at the Heresztyn family domain, they decided to go it alone in 2012, founding their own domain. Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini has 5.5 hectares of vines on the Côte de Nuits that cover Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. There is one, dazzling bottle of white Burgundy that adds a dash of light in a range of beautiful reds: a dozen Pinot Noir cuvées from regional appellation to grand cru. Taking the greatest care possible of their vines, the domain is currently converting to organics in order to better express the character of the terroir about which they are so passionate. On this subject, Florence explains that ‘wine is the memory of the vine, from blossoming to harvest, which is why we've decided to treat our vineyards as naturally as possible'. La Revue du vin de France describes this domain's wines as ‘always delicate and pure, becoming increasingly precise'.
