Vintage description 1940 Bordeaux

The weather conditions were fairly normal that year, although the annual rainfall was just a touch above average compared to 1926. A good year for red wines. These wines are fine with a lovely bouquet and notes of mushrooms and truffles. Although they have a good level of tannins, they are fairly light and develop fairly quickly. However, the Sauternes are mediocre, quite short and dry, fairly light and elegant, and definitely not wines for cellaring.
