A legendary vintage. The harvest was sparse due to a spring frost, catastrophic for the vineyard. An exceptionally hot and dry summer followed by a drought produced a remarkable concentration. Most of the great châteaux produced incredibly rich wines with outstanding cellaring capacities. Today, the great wines of this vintage, tannic, powerful and concentrated, are still out of this world. The Sauternes are very sweet, rich and powerful, and have a very long cellaring capacity.
