This vintage was marked by an abundant harvest, watered down by the rain. In the Médoc region, a hot and dry summer, followed by a rainy September produced supple and medium-bodied wines. However, the Libourne wines are exceptionally good. The Pomerols and Saint Emilions, rich, full and intense, are marvellous wines and far better than the vintage's general reputation. The same can be said for the Sauternes which are particularly rich and unctuous. The grands crus produced some truly great wines (Yquem 24.4%). Often underestimated and under priced, most of the wines of this vintage are very good value for money.
