Vintage description 1971 Bordeaux

An outstanding vintage. These wines, elegant and pleasing in their younger years, were often considered superior to the exceptional 1970 vintage wines. Highly overrated, due to the low yields, these wines were sadly lacking in the concentration and richness of their predecessors. However, the Pomerols and Saint Emilions distinguished themselves with harmonious and racy wines. The sweet wines are extraordinary. The wines, ample, rich and incredibly concentrated, can be laid down for a considerable length of time.
