Lot presentation

IGP Collines Rhodaniennes L'Ame Soeur Syrah de Seyssuel Stéphane Ogier 2010

The wine

Unlike the other cuvées, this one is grown in a warmer site, located north of Vienne on the left bank of the Rhône. It is sustainably cultivated and harvested by hand. Its grapes are destemmed and cold-macerated in thermoregulated stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts. The wine is matured for 18 months in barrique barrels, with 20% new wood in the first year. As a result of this climate and vinification method, this wine is darker, deeper and more intense. We discover in turn aromas of blackcurrant and violet, but also black olive and subtle touches of vanilla. It is a refined, elegant yet rich wine with tannins that will round out over time. An excellent cuvée to be enjoyed with a honey-roasted duck breast.

About the Producer Stéphane Ogier

As this estate on the hillsides of Ampuis has been in the family for seven generations, it was perfectly natural for Stéphane Ogier to take over from his father Michel in 1997. Having learned his craft in Burgundy, he has decided to produce single-plot wines to achieve the best expression of each terroir. He also strives constantly for elegance and finesse. Today, the vines are planted on 27 hectares of granite and shale soil. Viticulture is conducted according to sustainable principles. Two distinct terroirs define the estate’s identity: the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde, both shaped by a relatively cool climate. Since 2015, the estate operates in an ultramodern winery, equipped with over 600 barriques, ensuring precision in both vinification and ageing. Today, Stéphane Ogier’s wines clearly belong among the elite, thanks to his unwavering pursuit of excellence driven by passion, ambition, talent, and creativity.
