More infoWe are heading to the Isle of Beauty to discover the Morta Maio cuvée from Antoine Arena. This wine is crafted from a blend of Nielluccio and Grenache. The vines are planted in a plot called Morta Maio, which translates to "the high myrtle" in Corsican. The vineyard enjoys a north-south exposure that is favourable for the development of these Mediterranean grape varieties. Covering just under two hectares, the soil is a mix of clay and schist, ideal for producing this exquisite wine. In the vineyard, Antoine Arena is in total harmony with nature and practices biodynamic agriculture. No chemical fertilisers or inputs are used to care for the vines. In the cellar, Antoine takes a hands-off approach. The fermentation process occurs in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. The juice is then aged for over a year in the same containers to preserve freshness and allow the true expression of the terroir to shine through.

About the Producer Antoine-Marie Arena
Antoine-Marie Arena is the younger son of the famous Antoine Arena, a legendary Patrimonio wine maker in Corsica. After having worked on the family domain since 2004, Antoine-Marie started making his own wines in 2014. He works on 6 hectares including the Carco and Hauts de Carco terroirs, and these are planted with Nielluccio for the reds, and Bianco Gentile, Vermentinu and Muscat for the whites. The result is everything we would expect and more: wines already among the finest in Corsica, offering crisp fruit, elegance and depth.
