More infoRhodonite is a new rosé cuvée from Domaine des Ardoisières. More commonly known as Argile Rose, this IGP Vin des Allobroges has made its debut in Brice Omont’s range. The Gamay vines, which constitute 100% of this cuvée, are located on the slopes of Saint-Pierre de Sucy, characterised by schistose and clay-limestone soils. Here, the vines are planted at a density of 5,000 vines per hectare and are pruned in a simple Guyot style, yielding approximately 40 hl/ha. The vines enjoy a full west exposure, which is perfect for the development of Gamay.
The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. In the winery, fermentation is carried out using native yeasts, and the juice is aged for about a year in stainless steel vats.
On tasting, we appreciate a slight salinity along with notes of red fruits like raspberry. This rosé delivers a lovely minerality on the palate. It is best enjoyed young, whether as an aperitif or paired with a lovely fish dish.

About the Producer Ardoisières (Domaine des)
The Domaine des Ardoisières was created ex nihilo in 1998 on land that had been planted with vines in Roman times, but which had not produced wine for centuries. Michel Grisard, one of the leading Savoyard producers, was the driving force behind the project for a long time, before handing it over to the current manager, Brice Omont. The vineyard is cultivated according to biodynamic principles and vinification is extremely natural with as little intervention as possible. The property produces three white wines and two reds. The "Schiste" cuvée (7,000 bottles) is produced from four traditional Savoyard varieties: Jacquère, Malvoisie, Roussanne and Mondeuse Blanche. The vines are grown on spectacular south-facing terraces, with small yields of 25 hl/ha. Vinification, with indigenous yeasts is carried out in barrels which have already been used for three to five wines.
