Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru Domaine Gagey - Louis Jadot 2011

The wine

Morey Saint Denis is one of the smallest appellations in the Côte de Nuits. There are four grands crus here, and one of them is Clos Saint Denis. It combines power and finesse with marked aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, spices, and earth. Its tannins, whilst powerful, remain elegant. Ageing for 10 to 20 years in the cellar will reveal all this wine’s secrets. Alongside a dish of game of refined cheese, this wine will be at its best.

About the Producer Louis Jadot

Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
