A 22 month maturation on lees for this incredibly rich cuvée.
More infoThis cru takes its name from a blend of the Latin Gula (gullet) and the Gaullois Ana (fen), a name that inspired Atelier Bingo for the label design. The grape musts are moved only using gravity to avoid any alteration, and alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. The Gula Ana cuvée is then matured for 22 months on lees. This allows the wine to gain the depth and intensity later felt on the palate.
About the Producer Luneau Papin
The estate has championed plot-by-plot vinification for over 40 years. Each clos is harvested by hand, then vinified and aged separately, for each terroir to shine through with clarity and precision. The vineyard is planted exclusively with Melon de Bourgogne, the sole grape variety authorised under the Muscadet appellation. With the arrival of the new generation, biodynamics has become an integral part of the estate’s philosophy, a conscious, personal choice rather than a trend. Innovation is a constant here, whether in the wines themselves or in the evolving approaches to vinification and ageing, resulting in wines prized for their finesse and strong sense of identity. Bettane & Desseauve notes that “the various tastings throughout the year place this estate at the very top of the Muscadet hierarchy,” while La Revue du Vin de France’s Green Guide describes it as “an inspiring estate, a true revelation of the terroirs, and age-worthy great white wines of the Nantes region."
Today, demand is such that more than half of the production is exported, with Luneau-Papin wines gracing the tables of leading Michelin-starred establishments around the world.
