The wine
White wines from the Baden region in south-west Germany are renowned for their exceptional quality and diversity. This winegrowing region, the third largest in Germany, enjoys a warm, sunny climate ideal for growing a wide range of grape varieties. The soils are diverse, with everything from gravel and limestone to loess and volcanic soil, each contributing unique characteristics to the wines produced. The main white grape varieties grown in Baden include Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder), Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder), Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Gutedel (Chasselas).
The white wines from the Baden region are characterised by aromas of white fleshed fruit including pear and apple, combined with floral and mineral notes. On the palate, they deliver freshness, well-balanced acidity and a silky texture, with a long, elegant finish. These nectars pair perfectly with seafood, grilled fish, white meats and sophisticated vegetarian dishes.
