Castilla y Leon QS Quinta Sardonia 2004
The wine
A blend of Spanish and French varieties, QS is the domain’s top cuvée. A superb wine raised for 17 months in barrels. Perfectly balanced, on the nose it has aromas of blackberry, liquorice and black fruits. On the palate, the wine is elegant and direct. It will amply reward 5 to 15 years of aging.
About the Producer Quinta Sardonia
The Ribera Del Duero appellation in Spain is located in the upper Douro valley, (known as the Duero in Spain). This is a huge 20,000-hectare DO in the heart of the Castille and León province. The appellation owes its fame to Vega Sicilia and also Peter Sisseck and his Pingus. He was responsible for launching the project with his technical director Jerome Bougnaud from Quinta Sardonia. The domaine comprises 17 hectares of parcels situated on average between 400 and 700-800 metres above sea level, surrounded by pine trees. The domaine produces top-flight wines using biodynamic principles. A superb find.
