Santenay Cuvée S David Moreau 2020

The wine

The S cuvée is quite a special one in the eyes of David Moreau. The hectare of land it comes from was first planted by his grandparents. Located at the centre of the village, this parcel has weak soil where the vines have to push really deep to find enough water, drawing in many minerals and nutriments as they go. They produce small, very concentrated grapes with brilliant results. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted carefully in the winery. The juice is fermented with the help of indigenous yeasts in order to obtain the most authentic expression of the terroir. Naturally dense and powerful, the S cuvée has lovely notes of blackcurrant and blueberry. David Moreau suggests opening this wine in around 12 years’ time.
