The wine
Clos de Vougeot is a Grand Cru appellation in the Côte de Nuits region of the Côte d’Or. It is home to Pinot Noir vines planted at an altitude of around 250 metres on shallow limestone soils mainly consisting of gravel. In the vineyard, a great deal of work goes into ploughing the plots to give the wines complexity and depth. The hand-picked Pinot Noir grapes are vinified with as little intervention as possible, allowing the fruit to release all their indulgent aromas naturally.
The rich garnet-red colour reveals a bouquet of extraordinary aromatic intensity, with concentrated aromas of red fruits like cherry and blackberry mingling with notes of coffee and liquorice. The full, structured palate is complemented by supple tannins delicately leading to a deliciously long, flavoursome finish. This cuvée offers several years of ageing potential.
About the Producer Domaine Moine-Hudelot
Domaine Moine-Hudelot in Chambolle-Musigny was originally a small family farm, managed by Daniel Moine, the former mayor of Chambolle-Musigny, before being bought in 2008 by Patrick Landanger of the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. The domaine no longer exists as such today but its wines remain appreciated by informed wine lovers.
