Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Domaine de Mandelot 2023
About the Producer Mandelot
The estate is located in the small village of Mandelot, northwest of Beaune and Pommard. Today, François Grangé, former operations manager at Chandon de Briailles, is at the helm of Domaine de Mandelot. There, he cultivates approximately ten hectares planted with the region’s typical grape varieties: Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. This talented winemaker promotes the Hautes Côtes de Beaune appellation, one that is too often overlooked.
The vines are nurtured using certified organic cultivation methods. A horse-drawn plough is also used to work the soil between the rows. Some plots are treated with milk instead of sulphur, a more natural way to combat powdery mildew. The estate’s first vintage was produced in 2023. Of the initial ten hectares, only seven are used for winemaking, while the other three are sold to négociants.
In the winery, the winemaking process is natural, without chemical inputs or SO2. The results are provocative and characterful gastronomic reds alongside distinctive rosés and orange wines.
