Saumur-Champigny Le Petit Saint-Vincent 2012
The wine
This Saumur-Champigny is made from 30-year-old Cabernet Franc vines planted in a terroir of clay, sand and chalk. To make this supple, round cuvée – to be enjoyed young – the domain carried out a two-week maceration in concrete vats followed by cool fermentation in order to preserve the delicate, lively character of the aromas. The wine was then matured in the same kind of vats for around six months.
About the Producer Le Petit Saint Vincent
Le Petit Saint Vincent is a family domaine located around the village of Varrains in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Dominique Joseph represents the fourth generation of the family and has managed the 12-hectare estate since 1990. The relatively old vines are cover cropped and the grapes are handpicked once they reach optimum maturity.
