Lot presentation

IGP Côtes Catalanes Matassa El Sarrat 2012

The wine

This top-secret cuvée, produced only from Carignan, develops elegant aromas of black fruits and has a lovely, lingering finish. At its origins, the Mourvèdre is cultivated organically, following some biodynamic methods. Its yields are limited to 15hl/ha, allowing it to fully express itself. Whole bunches ferment with ambient yeasts. The wine is raised for 14 months in 500L demi-muids.

About the Producer Matassa

The Matassa estate was established in 2002 by Thomas and Nathalie Lubbe and Sam Harrop, starting with just a few Carignan vines. It was expanded in 2003, with new plots planted with different grape varieties (Grenache, Maccabeu, Grenache Gris, Muscat). The soil here is worked in an eco-friendly fashion, with farming practices strongly influenced by biodynamics.
