More infoThis wine pays tribute to Tuscan tradition through a contemporary lens. It is produced under the Toscana appellation, established in 1995 to give winemakers greater freedom to craft wines beyond the constraints of more prescriptive appellations. Il Poggione is located in the Tuscan Maremma, not far from Montalcino, where a Mediterranean climate is tempered by altitude and cooling sea breezes. The vineyard from which this white is sourced are planted on mineral-rich limestone-clay soils interspersed with sand. The grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning to preserve their aromatic freshness. Fermentation begins with native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, preserving the purity of the fruit and the character of the grape varieties. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months, also in stainless steel vats, without any oak influence.
In the glass, the wine displays a pale yellow hue with golden highlights. The expressive nose reveals notes of white flowers, juicy pear, preserved lemon and Mediterranean herbs, complemented by a subtle mineral note. Lively and fresh on the first sip, the palate is driven by bright acidity. It unfolds with a fluid, taut texture, revealing flavours of white-fleshed fruit, citrus zest, aniseed and wet stone.
