Irouléguy Xuri D'Ansa 2002
The wine
The 215-hectare Irouléguy vineyard is one of the jewels in the crown of the Basque Country, home to 9 producers and a cooperative cellar producing typical wines under the PDO label. Located in the heart of Basse-Navarre, the vineyard extends over 10 communes around Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, benefiting from a unique microclimate and terroir, alongside a number of original grape varieties that lend Irouléguy wines a rare combination of power and generosity.
Located in the north of the Basque Country, this vineyard, steeped in a rich history tied to the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela, is one of the smallest winegrowing areas in France. Scattered across the mountains, these vines flourish in a landscape rooted in tradition and authenticity. The white grape varieties planted in this region include Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu, all of which are primarily aromatic and renowned for their lingering character on the palate.
The region’s signature white wines exude invigorating freshness and remarkable aromatic complexity, combined with a balance and concentration that will delight wine lovers. The perfect partner for fish and seafood, but also white meats and cheeses, these Irouléguy wines embody the excellence and diversity of Basque winegrowing.
