Bourgogne Passetoutgrain Anthologie Lafarge (Domaine) 2018

The wine

This special Anthologie cuvée is a tribute to Michel Lafarge, an imposing figure in the world of wine, especially for Burgundy connoisseurs. Created during the year of the Volnay winemaker’s 90th birthday, it is made from the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Passetoutgrain parcel, planted when Michel was born. The ‘Passetoutgrains’ appellation was initially designed precisely to ‘pass all the grapes’ of Pinot Noirinot noir and Gamay. This parcel has been cultivated following biodynamic principles since the 1970s.
The grapes ferment without their stalks in cement vats, then mature in oak casks (a large proportion of which are not new).
This wine displays aromas of red berries, peony and wild flowers, offering succulent depth and breadth, intensified by the natural concentration of the old vines. This wine encapsulates the very essence of Burgundy.

About the Producer Lafarge

Lafarge is a family-owned domain of 12 hectares, established in Volnay since the 19th century. Since then, each generation has strived to make it prosper and grow. In 1949 Michel and his father ran the domain; his son Frédéric joined them in 1978. From 1997 he started to use biodynamics in the domain and since 2000 all the vineyards are organically cultivated.
