The wine
Made from old Cabernet Franc vines, La Charpenterie offers superb floral and red fruit aromas. On the palate, the attack is fresh, velvety, firm and slightly acidic, offering a nice freshness. A very fine wine from Saumur!
About the Producer Domaine du Collier
Antoine Foucault (son of Clos Rougeard’s Charly and nephew of Nady Foucault) and his partner Caroline Boireau planted their domaine in Chace in the Saumur region in 1999. This organic vineyard has around 6 hectares on the famous hillsides of Brézé, planted predominantly to white. The wines are barrel-aged for a long time in magnificent troglodyte caves. The result indisputably tops all expectations. Both red and white wines from Domaine du Collier are classed as the highest in the region as they perfectly express their terroir and are very pure, fresh, deep, and concentrated.
