The wine
Produced in tribute to the nickname given to Cahors wines by the English (black wine), this exceptional cuvée from Clos Triguedina is produced from a parcel of 1.3 hectares, on slightly sloped, siliceous-clay and clay-limestone soils. The old vines of Malbec grapes are picked by hand, before being meticulously sorted after harvest. After undergoing traditional fermentation in vats, the wine is raised for 18 months in oak barrels. This powerful, robust, intensely dark wine is irrefutably made for cellaring, for 20 to 30 years at the very least.
About the Producer Clos Triguedina
étienne Baldès planted his first Cahors parcels in 1830. Six generations later, Jean Luc Baldès has masterfully raised the family domaine to the top level of the Cahors appellation, constantly introducing innovative production techniques. Located to the south of Cahors, near Puy l'Evêque, the domaine is nestled between the meandering river Lot and spreads over 70 hectares. Its clay-limestone soil, similar to Pomerol's soil composition, is perfect for producing great vintages.
