The wine
The Pinot Noir vines, aged between 20 and 70 years, flourish in the heart of the Côte de Nuits terroirs. In the winery and in the vineyard, each parcel is tended following organic viticulture practices that allow each vine to draw all the nutrients it requires to thrive from the soil. The grapes are hand-harvested at peak ripeness and vinified in the purest Burgundy tradition, with as little intervention as possible. This cuvée is aged for 11 months in oak casks, with 30% new wood, before being bottled.
A deep ruby-red colour reveals an intense bouquet with expressive red and black fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supple and deep, with luscious fruit aromas leading to a rich, lingering finish. This cuvée can easily be cellared for several years.
About the Producer Thierry Mortet
Brother of Denis Mortet, Thierry Mortet founded his domain in 1992. The vineyard now spans 8.5 hectares farmed organically (conversion in 2007).
