Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet 2022

The wine

Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes pays tribute to Domaine Burguet’s most cherished parcels, carefully selected for their age and depth of expression. The 50- to 80-year-old vines root deeply into the stony clay-limestone soils typical to Gevrey. The clay lends density, while the limestone brings freshness and minerality to balance the natural power of Pinot Noir. In the winery, vinification follows traditional, low-intervention methods. The wine is aged for 16 months in cask, with 35% new oak, preserving fruit elegance while shaping a supple, silky structure.
The wine displays a deep ruby hue. The intense, refined nose reveals black fruit, morello cherry, violet and sweet spice, lifted by a subtle hint of liquorice. The palate is generous and velvety, carried by racy and smooth tannins.

About the Producer Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet

Located in the heart of the Burgundy village of Gevrey-Chambertin, the vineyard recounts the fascinating story of Alain and his two sons, Jean-Luc and Eric. Taking over from their father, both brothers have chosen to remain faithful to his ethos and commitment by producing great wines that reflect the purest expression of Pinot Noir and the Côte de Nuits. The yields from each parcel, which include an exceptional heritage of old vines, are carefully regulated to ensure that the fruit is concentrated, fragrant and intense. In addition, the domain has the particularity of harvesting its grapes late, at optimum ripeness, and applying low-intervention viticulture methods, close to organic agriculture. These strict practices are the guarantee of premium quality raw materials and exceptional wines, which reflect the flavours of the region and grape variety to perfection.
