Western Cape Savage Never Been Asked to Dance 2024

Duncan Savage, a young South African wine producer, has been working with Chenin Blanc since he began his viticultural journey, as exemplified in this cuvée Never Been Asked to Dance. The grapes used to produce it mainly come from a 64-year-old vineyard in the Paarl region, along with a small proportion from Malgas.
After being foot crushed, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in whole bunches with a 5-day maceration on the skins, followed by 10 months’ ageing in used barrels.
The granite soils impart a natural freshness and distinctive fruit and floral flavours to the wine. On tasting, this Chenin Blanc delivers rich, alluring aromas of ripe fruit, spices and herbs, with a pronounced minerality. On the palate, it reveals notes of ripe fruit, honey, spices and flowers. This wine reflects the purity of the grapes, with a complexity and freshness that promise to develop beautifully with age, although it can also be enjoyed young.
