Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC

Intensity
Opulent, full-bodied and pure, it has a tremendous aromatic richness. This wine has tremendous ageing potential. At the revision of the Saint Emilion classification in 2012, La Mondotte went directly from the "basic" status of Saint Emilion Grand Cru, to Premier Grand Cru Classé "B": a first in the classification's history!
A cool and salty wine with blackberries, black olives, crushed stone. Medium to full body with a crunchy and layered palate and a minerally and salient character. You can feel the limestone here. Supple at the end. From organically grown grapes. A blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc. James Suckling
70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc
About the Producer La Mondotte
★ Partner ProducerBelonging to the same owner as Canon-la-Gaffelière and Clos de l'Oratoire, Mondotte has produced one of Bordeaux's most famous garage wines since 1996. That was when Stephan von Neipperg decided to try and extract the best from this terroir on Saint Emilion's eastern plateau, near Troplong Mondot, through reduced yields, meticulous vinification, and ageing entirely in new oak barrels. As a result, Mondotte is one of the most concentrated wines produced in Bordeaux.
