Chambolle-Musigny Michel Noëllat et Fils (Domaine) 2019

The wine

The Chambolle-Musigny vineyard lies on stony clay-limestone soils rich in limestone colluvium and Comblanchien pebbles, facing east and south-east between 250 and 300 metres above sea level. This unique geology provides excellent drainage and slow ripening conditions resulting in wines of great delicacy, elegance and fine mineral tension. The bunches are hand-picked and entirely destalked. After a four-day cold pre-fermentation, fermentation continues for 18 to 20 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The wine then ages in oak casks for 12 months, with around 30% new wood.
In the glass, the wine reveals an intense, brilliant garnet-red colour, signalling a fine concentration. The nose unfolds with refined aromas of blackberry and blueberry, laced with subtle notes of cocoa, mocha and ripe black fruits. On the palate, the substance is dense yet graceful, with a silky texture, fine tannins and a well-balanced saline acidity leading into a long, expressive finish.

About the Producer Michel Noëllat et Fils

Domaine Michel Noëllat, founded in the 19th century, is located in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. Owned by the Noëllat family for five generations, it is currently managed by two brothers, Alain and Jean-Marc, since their father Michel’s death in 1989. Their vineyards include 27 hectares spread over 23 different appellations, from Marsannay-la-Côte (Côte de Nuits) to Pommard (Côte de Beaune), in particular with two grand crus and eight premier crus. They produce remarkable wines and maintain fairly reasonable prices.
