The wine

The Goienetxea estate, in Baigorri, south-west France, is run by Bixente Indart, a talented young winemaker who took over the estate from his parents. He now makes his own wine from the grapes that used to be sold to merchants, ensuring a bright future for this estate. In 2021, he built the winery and made his first wine. The south/south-west facing terroir is composed of ophite, a volcanic rock that is fairly common in the region.
“Malda” combines Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng and is grown on ophite soils.
This wine has a rich nose of tropical fruit, pineapple and yellow fruit, and a full, fresh palate with a fruity, flavoursome finish. It is fermented and aged in 12-hectolitre tuns, “demi-muids” (600-litre barrels) and amphoras.
This excellent aperitif wine is also a wonderful accompaniment to seafood specialities and chocolate desserts.
