Gevrey-Chambertin Louis Jadot 2019

The wine

The terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin mainly consists of marl-limestone and rich clay, with a strong presence of limestone stones over a clayey-calcareous subsoil. The south-east exposure of the vines and the moderate altitude contribute to the grapes ripening beautifully. Harvesting is done by hand, allowing rigorous selection of only the healthiest, ripest fruit. After picking, the grapes are destalked and vinified in stainless steel vats to ensure gentle extraction. Spontaneous fermentation is triggered by native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak casks.
In the glass, the wine reveals a beautiful light ruby-red hue. The nose is elegant and complex, combining fresh red fruit with deeper notes of violet and damp earth. The wine is fine and smooth on the palate, with a fresh acidity that highlights the fruit.

About the Producer Louis Jadot

Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
