Rosé Extra Brut Louis XV De Venoge 2002
The wine
The Louis XV rosé is crafted exclusively from the finest crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. These chalky soils impart sharp minerality, remarkable purity and outstanding ageing potential to the wines. The Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes are rigorously selected at perfect ripeness. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve aromatic purity. To preserve the wine’s liveliness and crisp acidity, malolactic fermentation is avoided. The ageing process is meticulously managed, the wine rests on the lees for a minimum of ten years in the house’s cellars in Épernay.
The cuvée reveals a pale salmon hue, elegantly animated by a fine, persistent effervescence. The nose is noble and expressive, combining aromas of fresh red fruit, citrus zest, toasted bread, old rose and white pepper. On the palate, it is precise, chiselled and almost crystalline, with magnificent tension and a delicate sparkle, leading to a saline, floral finish.
