Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs La Rosêêh Tome I Gaspard Brochet

The wine

Gaspard Brochet works mainly with parcels on the Montagne de Reims, particularly in Écueil, Villers-aux-Noeuds and Mont Benoit. The loamy, chalk-rich soils over a limestone base provide the vines with everything they need for healthy development. In the winery, the skins remain in contact with the juice until the desired colour is achieved; this maceration also contributes fruit sweetness and aromatic depth. Fermentation then takes place in small vessels with native yeasts, followed by ageing on the lees. The second fermentation occurs in bottle, with around 24 months of ageing on laths.
In the glass, the pale pink hue reveals copper highlights. The nose reveals red berries, red fruit jam notes and touches of ripe citrus. On the palate, a clean attack reveals a fine bead and a perfect balance of freshness and acidity, leading into a fruit-driven, refreshing finish.

About the Producer Gaspard Brochet

Gaspard, the son of winemaker Vincent Brochet, decided to leave his job as a graphic designer in 2014 to study oenology. In 2016, he took over the family business, inheriting an estate with a 70-year history of producing outstanding Champagnes. Thanks to his unique expertise and this substantial heritage, Gaspard now tends to his more than three hectares of vines, located in Sacy, Écueil and Villers aux Nœuds, in the heart of the iconic terroir of the Montagne de Reims. Vincent recognises the environmental issues at stake and is keen to preserve the land he loves so much, and has a sustainable and balanced approach to viticulture. The vineyard holds the French Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) certification. He has banished all chemical fertilisers and weedkillers from his vines, and has begun converting to organic viticulture in 2021. The Champagnes produced by Gaspard Brochet, some of which bear his name and others his father’s, are energetic and elegant, reflecting the terroir of the Champagne region.
