Vin de France Prieur des Noues Château de Bonnezeaux 2022
In the hands of the Saclier de La Bâtie family, with viticultural roots dating back to the 14th century, Château de Bonnezeaux encompasses 9 hectares of vines planted between 1970 and 2021. In 2014, Guyonne Saclier de la Bâtie – a cousin of the owners – undertook the revival of the property, which had fallen into neglect, drawing on experience gained alongside Angeli and Bernaudeau. After two years of replanting, the 2016 vintage – a 100% dry Chenin Blanc from an appellation (which lends its name to the château) renowned for its sweet wines – was released.
In the vineyard, work is carried out with the utmost respect for the soil and biodiversity, following organic principles with restricted yields, each parcel receiving bespoke attention according to its specific requirements. In the winery, vinification follows a low-intervention approach, with only the lightest touch of sulphur, allowing the grapes to express their full aromatic potential naturally. The wines, aged for 1 to 4 years in seasoned oak casks, display admirable freshness and aromatic complexity capturing the distinctive character of the Bonnezeaux terroir. The iDealwine team are great admirers of this estate, whose rare and sought-after wines merit serious attention.
