What makes this wine special?
Corton forms the largest grand crus area in Burgundy, located in the Côte de Beaune at the limit of the Côte de Nuits. Here, the many climats create a true mosaic of styles, all highly sought after, producing Chardonnays that combine finesse with pronounced minerality. Liquid gold in every bottle!

The wine
Set on the iconic ‘Colline des Cortons’, the Corton grand ru has long established the international reputation of this celebrated slope. Classified as a grand ru of the Côte de Beaune in the Côte-d’Or, the ‘Colline’ (French for hill) – or ‘Montagne des Cortons’ – spans around 500 hectares planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay creating a veritable mosaic of styles and terroirs. It encompasses the villages of Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses, positioned between the Côte des Pierres to the south (where the vines border the stone quarries of Comblanchien) and Savigny-lès-Beaune to the north of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard rises between 250 and 330 metres above sea level, forming a natural amphitheatre unlike any other in the area.
Alongside Corton-Charlemagne for white wines, the Montagne de Corton also produces Corton – dubbed ‘le roi des bons vivants’ by Camille Rodier, meaning it is the ultimate epicure’s choice! Officially recognised on 31 July 1937, this grand cru is best known for its red wines, though a small quantity of white is also produced. Corton is the largest grand cru area in Burgundy. Corton white wines are very refined and distinctly mineral in style. Produced in very limited volumes and by only a handful of estates, these wines are naturally rare and highly sought after.
