Corbières Château La Voulte-Gasparets Réservée Patrick Reverdy 2005
The wine
Réservée is a judicious blend of southern grape varieties cultivated in a terroir rich in rounded pebbles, clay, limestone and sandstone. After harvesting by hand, whole-bunch maceration and a six-month élevage in casks, the wine reveals a particularly aromatic, powerful profile combined with attractive tannins.
About the Producer La Voulte-Gasparets
Château La Voulte-Gasparets in Boutenac, in the Corbières appellation, has been owned by the Reverdy family for six generations. Today, Patrick and his son Laurent manage the 55-hectare domain. The vineyard includes sublime old Carignan and Grenache vines, along with some Mourvèdre and Syrah for the reds. Rolle, Grenache and Maccabeu are vinified to produce the white wines. The wines are of consistent quality, and all age gracefully; one of the appellation's benchmark domains.
