Roy Soleil Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Philippe Gonet
The wine
This cuvée owes its name to Louis XIV, whose role in the creation of the worldwide renown of Champagne was considerable. The Chardonnay which composes it is matured for six months in oak casks before spending an extra three years in the bottle. Tasting reveals a particularly refined and elegant bouquet, stamped with notes of candied fruit and gingerbread. The palate is both rich and elegant, dominated by notes of ripe citrus such as blood orange and pomelo. Imbued with genuine freshness, it has a particularly pronounced mineral character.
About the Producer Philippe Gonet
Having been present in the Mesnil-sur-Oger region for 7 generations, the Gonet family produces particularly mineral champagnes which reflect the terroir from which they are produced. The domain spans 19 hectares, with two thirds of Chardonnay and one third of Pinot Noir. Today, Pierre Gonet manages the domain and Chantal Brégeon Gonet supervises the commercial and export side of things.
