Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé Vendanges Tardives Paul Kubler 2009
The wine
With its reputation as a sunny, hot terroir, Zinnkoepflé allows Gewurztraminer to grow in perfect conditions. The grapes dry on the vine on the terroir of limestone and grit, gaining in complex aromas and concentration. The wine is then vinified in oak barrels and stainless-steel vats. The wine has a ripe, generous profile with fruity, floral and spiced notes. Will go very well with spicy food.
About the Producer Paul Kubler
Paul Kubler is a thirteeth-generation winemaker – his antecedants began winemaking in 1620 – who is renowned for the exceptional purity of his wines. Currently in the process of converting his vineyard to organic cultivation, Kubler is particularly alert to respecting the vines and the traditional local grape varieties. He lets Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Gris and Noir speak for themselves on his 9 hectares of vineyard around Soultzmatt, featuring some parcels of Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé. His wines are split into three tiers, of an ever-increasing quality: the Vins de Fruits, or “fruit wines” which are made to express varietal character; the terroir-driven Vins de Pierre or “stone wines” and the Vins Liquoreux or “sweet wines” which include the Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles.
