Morgon Côte du Py Vieilles Vignes Damien Coquelet 2013

This cuvée comes from old vines, over 50 years old in fact, planted in magnificent plots at the top of the hill (an altitude of 300 metres). These vines grow in soil rich in granite and iron oxides. The grapes are matured in used barrels. This cuvée brings together aromas of black fruit and spiced notes. The palate is concentrated with ripe fruit notes. The clean taste and powerful tannins demonstrate a well made, high quality Morgon.
About the Producer Damien Coquelet
Damien Coquelet (like his father in law, Georges Descombes) is a big follower of winemaker Marcel Lapierre. Young Coquelot has been in the winemaking business since 2009 and ensures his wines are of good quality, naturally, by following a ‘no sulphur’ philosophy. His nine hectacre vineyard is in Morgon where the terroir is very good and four of these hectacres are situated within the famous Côte de Py. The use of soil ploughing , natural yeasts and carbonic maceration all contribute to make this wine a great success.
