Corton is produced in the communes of Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny. This is the only grand cru in the Côte de Beaune that has red and white wine, which makes it, along with the Musigny in Chambolle-Musigny, the only two-coloured Burgundy grands crus. On the Pougets parcel, situated at mid-slope, on the south-facing side of Corton hill, the vines benefit from maximum sunshine. This wine with its red fruit and spicy aromas requires a long maturing of nearly 20 months (partly in new barrels) to maintain its denseness. After aeration it develops dark fruit aromas with tarry undertones. Highly concentrated, with blackberry and liquorice flavours on the palate. The Corton Pougets needs to aged for about ten years.

About the Producer Louis Jadot

Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
